How to Get Rid of Spiders in Your House Naturally

Posted by on Jul 13, 2017 in Internet Marketing |

No one likes having spiders in the house. They are naturally creepy, but they can also be dangerous. Some species, like Black Widows or Brown Recluse, have bites that can cause serious damage and even death in some cases. While it’s important to keep these crawlers outside, it’s also nice to find a way to repel them without spreading harmful chemicals throughout your home. Luckily there are some natural ways to make a spider want to stay outside where it belongs.

Make it Tough for Them to Get in

Spiders love dark, tight spaces. The first thing to do to keep a spider from coming into your home is to block all the possible hiding places for it. Attics and basements are excellent spider homes and it can be nearly impossible to keep spiders from coming into those less-used spaces. Fill any cracks along baseboards, ceilings, or windows. Make sure there aren’t any gaps around your doors. Don’t leave newspaper or cardboard boxes lying around, especially in dark places like under the bed. Vacuum often to pick up any small unseen spiders and destroy any eggs that may have bee laid in cracks or crevices.

Essential Oils

There are several kinds of essential oils that spiders dislike. Peppermint and tea tree oil are two of the most effective scents. You can keep spiders away simply by lighting scented candles or using scented wax burners. A more direct way to use essential oils is to create a spray and using it along baseboards, windows, and doorways. Spiders dislike lavender oil as well. Fill a flower vase with water, add five or six drops of lavender to the water, then add your fresh flowers. The lavender scent will keep spiders away from that part of the room.

Citrus and Vinegar

The acidic nature of any citrus fruit will get rid of spiders. All lemon scented liquids will effectively keep spiders out of a room, so stick with lemon scents for floor cleaners, hand wash, and any other cleaning supplies you use. You can create your own citrus spray by using lemon or orange peels. Boil the peels in water, then spray the lemon or orange water throughout your home. Dried peels can be ground into a powder and sprinkled along baseboards or under cabinets where spiders like to lurk.

Diatomaceous Earth

Not all natural spider repellents are as pleasant to use as essential oils and citrus cleaners, but if you have an infestation these may be your best bet to kill the spiders as well as keep them away. Diatomaceous earth is a type of soil that has larger, sharper particles than typical garden soil. When spiders walk through a patch of diatomaceous earth, the particles scratch off the spider’s protective outer coating, causing the arachnid to eventually die from dehydration. Sprinkle the diatomaceous earth anywhere you’ve seen spiders in your home and then wait. After a couple of days, vacuum the earth away. You’ll probably vacuum up some dehydrated spiders, too.

Out of the blue, I received an email from the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce one day notifying me that we were nominated for a 2016 Business Excellence award.Once I got past my shock and disbelief that they must have the wrong Susan… it began to sink in that someone out there thought we were worthy enough of this nomination. Wow, what an honor! Part of the nomination process consisted of a 30-minute interview in front of a 3-judge panel. Imagine being forced to actually brag about yourself for a half an hour! Talk about squirming in my seat! Fast forward to last week where the awards ceremony took place.

Much to my relief, our category was up first so I could relax the rest of the evening. To be honest, I wasn’t all that anxious – I knew the odds of winning were only 1 in 7 so I waited patiently for the winner’s name to be announced, not at all expecting it to be us. We are not the first business I’ve created; there’s been plenty others ranging from creating craft pieces to faux finish painting. But no matter what I did, I was very passionate about it. Don’t waste your time trying to run a business just to make money. You’re going to tire of it very quickly and it will be harder to make sales.

But when you’re passionate about what you do, others will immediately see that and will be drawn to you like a magnet. One of the truest joys I receive is the knowing how much we are able to help a new business owner get their online presence up and running. Being a part of their joy at seeing their dream materialize into something tangible gives me just as much joy. Running an own business needs lots of knowledge.

Marketing – An Overview

Marketing – An Overview

For background material to this article, we encourage you to first read “Viewpoint: The ‘invention illusion’ means new rarely is new” published last week on BBC News. This week we’ll be presenting a model for identifying and reporting on inventions, innovations and the like. What makes something new, or can anything really be considered new at all?Maybe any talk of inventions is mere fancy. Is it really truthful to say that anything today is really an invention? Maybe it is just a modification or update on a previous version? But as we will explain, it all has to do with a company’s willingness to benefit people in some new way. The innovation is in the new ways that this “old” invention can now benefit people.

Of foremost importance is to be truthful, especially in advertising. If this product doesn’t do what the marketers claim, then this is wrong. But if it does, then all the more so, the benefits should me made known to the world. But we need to keep things in the proper context, and not presume that these are new inventions exist without some history to them. There is a question on what to do with those marketers who don’t want to admit the past? The best marketers are those that first make an admission (e.g. that this new product is just an updated version), but then proceed to details the reasons why it is still important to buy it. They are not pretending that this smart phone or tablet didn’t exist before in another form. The distinction is with regard to the anatomy of the upgrade, and how these new features can better peoples’ lives. We need then a revolution of good, truthful marketers. While every marketer says they have something to say, the public increasingly only wants to listen to the truthful ones.
